Green Corridor College

01.04.25

Members of SPECL recently visited our friends at Green Corridor College to donate a selection of equipment to help with their start up of a

podcast and recording videos. The donations were in response to a letter writing activity some learners worked hard to achieve. They were asked to write to ask for items which they would like to help their lives at GCC. Following lessons on how to construct a letter and what to include, the learners then handwrote their letters before sending them to SPECL. The hard work achieved with each letter is evident and can be seen below.

As well as the camera and podcast equipment, SPECL also donated a new cricket set, soft baseball set and a slushie machine, as requested by Miguel.

The charity’s CEO, David Welch, passed on thanks from the team:

“The learners had a great time and enjoyed the occasion receiving the equipment and we have already begun to charge it ready for use today and tomorrow – it is going to make a big difference to what we are able to offer here.”

The college is a haven for young adults with extra educational needs and allows the learners the opportunity to learn skills to help them work within horticulture or catering, as well as essential life skills. Stockley Park’s Lifestyle Manager, Claire Watson, Security Manager, Leon Erwee, and Landscape Manager, Luke Potter, spent time with the charity’s CEO, David Welch, teachers, volunteers and all the learners enjoying the sunshine on Shrove Tuesday.

After touring the expansive site seeing the amazing work the learners have achieved, the team enjoyed lunch before taking part in pancake races. Needless to say, SPECL were not the best racers and lost out to learners with the winners from each race taking part in the final. Congratulations to Saad for being the overall winner!

Green Corridor College has been supported by Stockley Park for the last eighteen months and now uses the park as part of the learner’s road safety classes. To learn more about Green Corridor College, please visit www.greencorridor.org.uk
