Our 2025 Biodiversity Review highlights another strong year of progress in delivering our five-year biodiversity management plan, launched in 2024, with real, measurable benefits for wildlife across the Park.
Action completion in 2025 was high, with the majority of planned habitat improvements successfully delivered. These included tree planting across the site, grassland and woodland enhancement, waterbody and reedbed improvements, and continued control of non-native invasive species. We also increased bird and bat boxes, log piles, and insect hotels, helping to support a wider range of species year-round.
Using the DEFRA biodiversity metric, we continue to work towards our target of achieving a 10% Biodiversity Net Gain over the five-year period. Surveys carried out in 2025 recorded encouraging results, including:
- 115 grassland plant species and extensive orchid flowering
- 49 invertebrate species from 784 individual records
- Strong freshwater pond scores, with amphibians such as smooth newts confirmed on site
- Continued habitat support for birds, bats, hedgehogs, and stag beetles through sensitive management and deadwood creation
