With the outbreak of Covid-19 and health and wellbeing at the forefront of everyone’s minds, we thought we’d share a few facts about the ways singing can improve your mental and physical health!
– You can make new friends and get to know other people in Stockley Park. Singing in a choir is great for forging social bonds, it also does so particularly quickly, acting as an excellent icebreaker. You’ll have a sense of increased community and belonging!
– Singing improves breathing, posture and helps reduce muscle tension, and releases endorphins!
– Learning new songs is cognitively stimulating and helps improve memory, and it has been shown that singing can help those suffering from dementia, too.
– Choir is a friendly and sociable gathering! – It’s scientifically proven! Research has found that people feel more positive after actively singing due to the release of neurochemicals such as ?-endorphin, dopamine and serotonin.
Come and join our community of singers and music makers! Stockley Voices is currently going ahead as a virtual online group, so if you’re working from home you can still join in! Please contact will.branston@gmail.com for more information
